1) What we do

EchoType is a tool that types your text for you with realistic keystrokes. It runs locally and is offered via our website, app, and browser extension (the “Service”).

2) Your account

You create an account with email + password (Firebase Authentication). You’re responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity in your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or older where your local law requires).

3) Acceptable use

• Don’t break laws or third-party terms (e.g., site/app rules, school or employer policies).
• Don’t use EchoType to bypass access controls, cheat on exams/assessments, spam, or infringe IP.
• Don’t probe or reverse-engineer our systems except as allowed by law.

EchoType is a general-purpose tool—you’re responsible for how you use it.

4) Subscriptions, lifetime deal & payments

• Billing. Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. Payments are securely processed by Stripe. Taxes may apply.
• Lifetime (“Forever”) plan. A one-time payment grants access to the consumer EchoType service for the duration of its commercial availability — meaning for as long as EchoType, or any direct successor service under common ownership, continues to operate and be publicly offered. This plan does not guarantee perpetual operation of EchoType. If EchoType is discontinued, sold, merged, or replaced, access may end without compensation. We reserve the right to retire the service or parts of it at our discretion, provided that it is not done in bad faith toward users.
• Refunds. We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on first-time purchases, including lifetime plans. After 7 days, refunds are at our discretion unless required by law.
• Price changes. Subscription prices may change prospectively; we’ll notify you before renewal. Lifetime plan purchasers will not be affected by later subscription price changes.

Manage or cancel your subscription anytime through the in-app Billing Portal.

5) Content & privacy

We don’t send the text you type through EchoType to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for what we do collect (e.g., account, billing, and operational data).

6) Software & updates

We may update the app/extension automatically. Updates can change or remove features to improve performance, security, or compliance.

7) Intellectual property

EchoType, our trademarks, and our software are owned by us or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use EchoType as permitted by these Terms.

8) Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties (e.g., Stripe, Firebase). Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services.

9) Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED (INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT). We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

9A) Third-party dependencies

EchoType relies on third-party services (e.g., Stripe, Firebase, hosting providers). We are not responsible for any downtime, loss, or data issues caused by those services. Your use of EchoType is subject to their respective terms.

10) Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM (OR USD $50 IF YOU HAVEN’T PAID). WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

11) Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold EchoType harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service or breach of these Terms.

12) Termination

You may stop using EchoType at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach or misuse. Sections that by nature should survive (e.g., IP, disclaimers, limitations, indemnity) will survive termination.

If the Service or any plan is retired, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active users in advance by email or in-app notice. Your data will be deleted or anonymized following our Privacy Policy.

13) Changes

We may modify these Terms. If changes are material, we’ll provide notice (e.g., by email or in-app). Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new Terms.

14) Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, U.S.A., without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The state courts located in Suffolk County, Massachusetts, and the federal courts in the District of Massachusetts shall have exclusive jurisdiction and venue, unless applicable law provides otherwise.

15) Dispute resolution

Except for disputes that may be brought in small-claims court, you agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved through binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You and EchoType each waive the right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. This clause is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
